Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 8, 2026
Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Marcionette Media Group LLC ("Marcionette Media Group," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use the Baroque mobile application, the baroque.app website, and any related services (together, the "Service").
By using the Service, you agree to the collection, use, and sharing of your information as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Information We Collect
Information you provide to us. When you create an account and use the Service, we collect the information you give us, including:
- Account information — your email address, name, username, password, and date of birth.
- Optional profile information — your closest major city, profile picture, bio, and profile link.
- Content you create — ratings, reviews, comments, replies, messages, bookmarks, lists, profile highlights, and anything else you post or share on the Service.
- Communications — messages you send to us, reports you submit about other users or content, and your responses to surveys or requests for feedback.
Information we collect automatically. When you use the Service, we automatically collect:
- Usage and interaction data — the content you view and interact with, how long you view it, what you tap, zoom into, search for, like, follow, rate, bookmark, and share, and other actions you take on the Service.
- Device and technical information — device type and model, operating system and version, app version, language and region settings, IP address, device identifiers, and similar technical data.
- App events and diagnostics — screen views, feature usage, performance data, crash reports, and error logs, which may include information about your device and the state of the app when a problem occurred.
Information we infer. We use your activity on the Service to develop a profile of your preferences — for example, the kinds of paintings and artists you appear to enjoy — so we can personalize your experience and recommendations.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Service, including your account, feed, and social features.
- Personalize your experience, including recommending paintings, artists, and other content we think you will enjoy.
- Communicate with you, including service-related messages (such as verification codes, security alerts, and updates to our terms and policies) and promotional and marketing communications about Baroque, such as new features, content, and announcements. You can opt out of marketing communications at any time (see "Your Rights and Choices" below).
- Promote safety and integrity, including enforcing our Terms of Service, reviewing reports, detecting and preventing spam, abuse, fraud, and other harmful conduct, and protecting our users and the public.
- Understand and improve the Service, including analyzing how the Service is used, measuring the performance of features, and developing new products and features.
- Support advertising, including — if we show advertising in the future — selecting, delivering, and measuring the effectiveness of ads. We will update this Privacy Policy before making material changes to how we use your information for advertising.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our legal rights.
What Is Public and What Is Private
Baroque is a social service, and some of your information is public by design. Your profile (including your name, username, profile picture, bio, city if you add one, and profile link), your ratings, reviews, comments, likes, follows, profile highlights, and engagement score are visible to other users of the Service, and public content may also be visible to people who are not signed in — for example, on share pages at baroque.app.
Some information is not shown publicly, including your email address, date of birth, bookmarks, direct messages (visible only to the members of the conversation), your taste profile, and your reports and blocks. Please keep in mind that the people you message can save or share the content of those messages.
How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information in the following circumstances:
- Service providers. We share information with vendors and service providers who perform services on our behalf, such as cloud hosting and storage providers, database providers, email delivery providers, analytics providers, and crash-reporting providers. These providers may only use your information to provide services to us.
- Other users and the public. Content and profile information you post publicly is shared with other users and may be visible off the Service, as described above.
- Legal reasons. We may share information in response to a legal request (such as a subpoena, court order, or search warrant) if we believe we are required to do so, or when we believe sharing is necessary to detect, prevent, or address fraud, abuse, security incidents, or illegal activity, to enforce our terms and policies, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of our users, ourselves, or others.
- Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of some or all of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
- With your consent. We may share information for other purposes with your consent or at your direction.
How Long We Keep Information
We keep your information for as long as your account exists or as long as we need it to provide the Service. If you delete your account in the app, deletion becomes permanent after a 48-hour grace period — signing back in within 48 hours cancels it. When your account is deleted, we delete your information, except where we need to retain it to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, promote safety, or where the information exists in backup systems for a limited period. Content you shared with others — such as messages you sent — may remain visible to them after your account is deleted.
Your Rights and Choices
You can access and update most of your profile information directly in the app through your profile and settings.
- Marketing opt-out. You can opt out of promotional emails at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or by contacting us at contact@baroque.app. We will still send you service-related messages, such as verification codes and important account notices.
- Access, correction, and deletion. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Settings → Delete account); deletion becomes permanent after a 48-hour grace period, and signing back in within that window cancels it. You may also request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us at contact@baroque.app. We will respond consistent with applicable law.
- State privacy rights. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws, such as the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to request deletion, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising your rights. We honor these rights as required by law. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at contact@baroque.app. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
Age Requirement
The Service is available only to people who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a user is under 18, we will terminate the account and delete the associated information. If you believe someone under 18 is using the Service, please contact us at contact@baroque.app.
Where Your Information Is Stored
We are based in the United States, and the information we collect is stored and processed in the United States (and in other countries where our service providers operate). If you use the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those of your country.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information from loss, theft, misuse, and unauthorized access. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your information. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you — for example, through the Service or by email — before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the updated policy takes effect means you accept the updated policy. The "Effective date" at the top of this policy tells you when it was last revised.
